The undergraduate courses of Gama Filho keep partnerships with other great international institutions, in the Americas and Europe. In addition, it has an interchange program that enables the students of undergraduate courses to study in universities of countries such as Portugal, France and the United States for one or two semesters.
The Brazilian representation in the Mercosur discussions concerning the professional education, qualification for the professional practice and work in various professional healthcare categories is performed by the Pro-Dean of Institutional Health, Professor Gilberto Chaves.
Gama Filho is the sole manager of the Two-Nation Health Project, supported by the Brazilian and Bolivian governments. Only a great institution could deal with such a responsibility.
Only the Mechanical Engineering course of Gama Filho has ten laboratories in its practice center – including the thermo science laboratory. In addition, it is the only University in Rio de Janeiro to rely on a wind tunnel technology.
Gama’s Civil Engineering, registered in the Regional Council of Engineering, Architecture and Agronomy (Conselho Regional de Engenharia, Arquitetura e Agronomia – CREA) – has eight state-of-the-art laboratories in its practice center and other four laboratories for the Electrical and Mechanics habilitations. Building materials, ground mechanics and hydraulics laboratories can be highlighted, with facilities prepared for the performance of various tests and trials, which have the purpose to help, in a practical way, the student’s learning.
Cine–Teatro Dina Sfat is a space with 220 seats and equipped with modern sound and image technology, which is perfectly fit for theater, dance, music and movie spectacles, either professional ones, or produced by our students. Not all of the universities have such a modern structure.
In here, you will find an environment for distance education and digital inclusion, with the mission to develop programs and projects that increase and enrich the knowledge, breaking time and space barriers, using Internet technologies in a consistent and innovative way.
Through the Internship Central, students have access to a database of more than 5,000 companies that are constantly analyzed regarding the opportunities that can be offered. More than an internship, students receive guidance about the development of resumes and how to proceed in interviews and group dynamics.
Junior Company, a consultancy services provider that works at the Barra-Downtown Unit and Campus Piedade, is exclusively managed by students, with support from the professors in the development and execution of projects. It is one of the few agencies in the State of Rio de Janeiro that gathers students and professionals from distinct areas.
The faculty of Gama Filho is comprised of highly qualified professionals and with wide experience in the areas where they work. One example is the Cinema Course which has teachers that are true exponents of the national cinema, and who have in their backgrounds several awarded films and productions in Brazil and overseas.
Students of Industrial Design at Gama Filho received a Mention of Honor in the III Rio New Designers Contest, in 2007. Because of that, they made presentations in animation festivals in Recife and Portugal, in addition to having works selected by Index Books, for publications in the field of professional works.
The relationship with the society leads the university to maintain a portfolio of social activities that reaches segments that need those resources and practical solutions for their problems, not to mention the assistance promoted internally.
